This workshop was held with the objectives of preparing the Provincial Adaptation Plan for the Western Province, establishing Provincial Climate Units and Provincial Climate Cells for the successful implementation of the National Adaptation Plan on climate change.

This workshop was organized under the initiative of the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change Secretariat, Global Green Growth Institute and Sri Lanka Red Cross Organization and under the leadership of the Ministry Secretary of Local Government. the Chief Secretariat of the Western Provincial Council, the officials of the provincial ministries and all the departments and statutory institutions under them and the officials of the central government institutions, most affected by climate change also participated  for this event.
